Artists of Festival of High Temperatures 2015 – James Wade

During this year Festival James Wade will direct the iron pour and mould making workshops for students of the Academy. He will melt iron in a big cupola furnace built at the Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław in 2007. This very spectacular show is always one of the main attractions of the festival.

James A. Wade Jr (born 1971, Columbus, Indiana, USA) influenced at an early age by agrarian landscape and contemporary design, studied art at the University of Kentucky, earning a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in 1994, and the University of Georgia, earning a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1996. Wade’s sculpture and drawings have been exhibited in over 100 exhibitions across the United States as well as in Italy, Bolivia, and England. In 2011, the Bournville Village Trust commissioned Wade to create a public artwork. His cast iron sculpture ‘Measures’ was modeled and cast at the Museum of Steel Sculpture in Coalbrookdale, England. It was completed in 2012 and is sited in the square of Lightmoor Village, Shropshire. James Wade is the former President of the Board of Directors of Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum. Wade maintains a studio in Lexington, Kentucky, USA, and he is currently a Senior Lecturer in the School of Art and Visual Studies at the University of Kentucky.
