Artists of FHT 2016 – Jack Gron
Jack Gron will lead iron mouldmaking workshops and the iron pour from the big furnace. He will be accompanied by his students from the Texas A&M
Jack Gron (born 1951) – an artist, a lecturer. He received his BFA degree in sculpture from the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus Ohio in 1973. Jack attended Washington University in St. Louis where he earned his MFA degree in sculpture in 1976. In Lexington Kentucky he taught sculpture for 20 years and served as a Chairman of the Art Department for 7 years. In 2005-2013 Jack served was a Chairman of the Department of Art at Texas AM University-Corpus Christi. Currently he is a Professor of Fine Arts in Sculpture and serves as Graduate Program Coordinator for the Art Department. All through his academic career, Jack has maintained a high profile as a working artist in developing a national and international reputation. Jack has served the greater community through his activities as a workshop facilitator, exhibition adjudicator, organiser of artist residencies, lecturer, conference panelist and a member of several local, regional and national boards and commissions.
