Space, objects and objects in space are the themes that appear in the art of Gabriela Kowalska, known as Gabukow. She blows glass, designs, makes sculptures, intstallations and objects. Glass is one of the distinctive features of her art as she herslef claims that it is „the healthiest material for man, it can be recycled many times and it is an extremely interesting art material”. She cooperates with small craft workshops in Poland. She combines craft with industry. Since 2011 she has been creating recycling installations for educational purposes and conducting variuos workshops ( reFUN-Warszawa, osiedle Targówek, rePLAZ-Warszawa, Wilanów, Social up Spacing-Wrocław). In 2008 she founded a project team Kofikolektif and since 2009 she has been working on her own under the name GABUKOW. She has obtained the scholarship of The Minister of Culture and National Heritage Młoda Polska 2009. She has been twice the finalist of the MakeME! competition during the Łódż Design Festival. She won the award Rdzeń Machiny Młody Design 2010 and her Product Attachment was shortlisted for the Dobry Wzór 2010 award by The Institute of Industrial Design. You can join Gabukow at work during her workshops „Re- and Up- cycling Glass containers of different sorts at quite high temperature” which will take place on Saturday between 14.00-15.30. You will be able to admire the outcomes of the work the following day, on Sunday between 12.00-12.30.
